N Medical Silicone Coated Latex Foley are designed for emptying the bladder of patients. This urology device can be used on patients before, during, or after the surgery depending on the situation. Foleys are designed to continuously drains urine from the bladder, preventing the patient's bladder from filling up.
Foleys are indwelling UC, often referred to as an IDCs (sometimes IDUCs). N Med 2 way Foleys have two lumens. One lumen, opens at both ends, drains urine into a collection bag. The other has a valve on the outside end and connects to a balloon at the inside tip. The balloon is inflated with sterile water or saline while inside the bladder to prevent it from slipping out.
Compared to silicone foley, silicone coated latex foley is made of latex material then coated with a layer of silicone. It is much more cost effective soltuion with similar functionalities.
